Love Songs is the book which compiles all of the words to all of the songs by Crass. Originally published by Pomona in 2004 as a paperback, and out of print for a couple of years, we felt it was time for a resurrection. Love Songs seems a fitting endpoint to the Crassical Collection – the remastered and expanded CDs of Crass’ studio albums.
Steve Ignorant is off to the New Country tomorrow with his band of merry men and women. Steve is doing a tour called The Last Supper, which he says is his celebration of Crass, the band he founded in 1977 with Penny Rimbaud. None of the other members of Crass are involved, but all gave their blessing. Steve’s band includes Gizz Butt (Destructors, English Dogs, The Prodigy, The More I See), Spike Smith (Morrissey, Conflict, Killing Joke, the Damned), Bob Butler (Schwartzeneggar, The Tone), and Carol Hodge (Electraglide, Synko, Bad Taste Barbies). The set includes all of Ignorant’s favourite songs from the period 1977-1984, when he feels the band were at their peak, and before things “got a bit heavy and horrible” due both to external pressures on the band resulting from their political activism, and internal strain on the band personally after seven years of living and working together in such a demanding atmosphere.
All gigs are listed with ticket links below.
After these dates the band visit Australia and New Zealand in June and then the tour ends in London on 19th November, which according to Steve, is the last time he will ever sing Crass songs.
