Someday All The Adults Will Die

Someday All The Adults Will Die: Punk Graphics 1971-1984, curated by Johan Kugelberg and Jon Savage, provides a comprehensive overview of punk graphic design, highlighting imagery before, during and after the punk years, drawing upon previously unseen public and private archives and collections.

Punk and post-punk graphic design is illuminated by examples of homemade cassettes, fanzines, posters, handbills, records and clothing.

Highlights include original artworks by Gee Vaucher, Jamie Reid, Gary Panter, John Holmstrom and Penny Rimbaud alongside numerous anonymous artists.

The exhibition coincides with the publication of Punk: An Aesthetic by Johan Kugelberg and Jon Savage, published by Rizzoli.

Christ, The Reissue

It’s a delight and simultaneous feeling of liberation to finally announce the release of Crass’ Christ, The Album LP reissue, which is now available for pre-order on the Southern web shop.

Released in 1982 with unplanned irony as the Falklands War raged on, Christ, The Album, another double vinyl half-studio/half-live release, once again aimed to take no prisoners. It’s controversial and boundary pushing style has been at the crux of critic and fan discussions for the years that followed, but admittedly received unquestionable respect and admiration. Harry Sword phrases it best: “Christ, The Album is too good for the TV punk documentaries, that’s why it’s still relevant and dangerous now.” Read his thoughts as the album marks it’s 30th year in the sonic ether.

Cut to new lacquers at Abbey Road studios from the untouched original analogue vinyl master, this double LP comes with the original book (“A Series Of Shock Slogans And Mindless Token Tantrums”), original poster and the addition of a download card giving you free access to an mp3 download of the album. All of the original tracks remain intact, including recording of their 1981 summer gig at the 100 Club in London, as well as other studio tracks, demos, radio broadcasts and cassette recordings, leaving no Crass gem unturned.

Penny Rimbaud is on the loose again, with two June gigs, one on either side of the Atlantic!

FESTIVAL SUONI PER II POPOLO – SUNDAY 10th JUNE 2012

The Suoni Per II Popolo in Montreal, Canada is a community based music festival which presents local and international musicians performing in a variety of styles such as free jazz, improvisation, avant rock, noise and 20th century classical work.

Penny Rimbaud and Louise Elliott will play and perform with the dance company We R Dying 2 Kill U.

Doors open 8pm with two sets of 45 minutes at Sala Rossa.

The Vortex – 27th June

Penny Rimbaud’s Last Amendment presents Reason Veils the Absurd. Following a five year recluse in the metaphorical woodshed, Rimbaud returns to the Vortex on a quarterly residency feeling ‘none the wiser and all the better for it’. Expect a heady mix of musings, magnificence, nonsense, improv, outprov, fusion, confusion, poetry and jazz. Standing (and oftimes falling) at the forefront of the neo-romantic avant-garde, Rimbaud is joined this evening by co-conspirators Eve Libertine (vox), Charles Webber (signal generators), Louise Elliott (sax’n’flute), Kate Shortt (cello), Jennifer Maidman (bass), Gene Calderazzo (drums) and Gee Vaucher (visuals).

Ten Notes On A Summer’s Day

And so we arrive at number six in the series of re-releases of Crass’ now classical albums remastered and with additional related material. This edition includes the original Crass album plus additional tracks featuring Eve Libertine, Hit Parade, A-Soma and Penny Rimbaud, and comes with a specially designed fold-out poster and an illustrated booklet containing lyrics and contextual notes.
