We’ve been adding lots of exciting new releases to our web shop recently, so what better time to go and take a look at our site?!
We’re all very excited about the limited edition DVD from Boris – Live In Japan which has just landed in the Southern Web Shop, so excited in fact that we are giving our lovely customers the chance to buy it for just £9 this week only!
Japan’s rock experimentalists BORIS are well-known not only for their epic discography — as they’ve unleashed multiple releases to the public every year in countless formats since their formation in the early 90s — but also for their captivating live performances they’re constantly booking, playing live throughout every habitable continent on the planet over the past decade and a half.
The next official release from the band will bring fans a bit of both worlds, in the form of the band’s first official domestic live DVD from the band.
Set for release on Southern Lord on January 24, 2011, the Live In Japan DVD captures the intriguing power, majesty and unique psychedelia that only BORIS can deliver, and will bring the band’s incredible stage act to fans who have never witnessed them play live, as well as diehards who venture out to see the act every chance they get.
The footage on this official DVD release was filmed in Tokyo at the final show of the band’s 2008 Smile World Tour. Featuring a full set of eleven BORIS originals filmed at Daikanyama Unit, as well as three bonus videos from a set at the Shibuya Club Quattro, this DVD is quite special since BORIS actually play on other continents much more often than in their home country.

Well, we’re still reeling from the great time we had at Supersonic Festival last month, if you were there, you know why we had such a great time. If you couldn’t make it, well this special offer is for you! In July 2009 Seattle- based hardcore duo Iron Lung tore apart the stage at Supersonic Festival, epitomising what the festival is all about, as this one bemused festival-goer found:
“I am not sure what it is that I just saw. It was either a couple of guys losing their minds in front of us or the most aggressive form of ‘good times’ a band could have. I feel like I just got kicked in the throat…by my brother. I mean I love him but why’d he kick me? I can’t breathe. Where is the bathroom? I feel sick, Holy shit, dude, that was insane. I wish the drummer didn’t talk so much. Or maybe he should only talk and not play drums. I don’t know. Iron Lung is fucking crazy. I loved it. Where is it? Oh, okay thanks, man.” – Martin Ken (Supersonic attendee recorded in secret near but not quite inside the bathroom)
And so to celebrate the great time we had and to bring a little bit of Supersonic into the homes of our lovely customers, we are selling the very limited edition vinyl live recording of this now infamous Iron Lung set at a reduced price of only £10 (normal price £11) for this week only. Offer ends on Friday 19th November.
Limited Heavyweight Vinyl (1000 copies)

In the process of closing our warehouse and moving the shop late last year, we dug up some boxes of stuff that we’ll gradually be adding to the shop. Our first box is a real find – copies of two now out-of-print CDs issued in 2007 on Guy Piccotto’s Peterbilt label.
Back in 1990, Peterbilt issued limited 12 inch pressings of two previously unreleased tapes by early Washington DC hardcore bands Rain and Deadline. Both singles have long been high on the want lists of collectors of rare DCHC. In 2007 Peterbilt pressed up CDs of the two releases – as far as we can tell only 1000 of each were pressed. We found 23 copies of each CD and you can buy them while they last in the shop.
